Welcome to Spring Creek Golf Club, Golf Digest’s 2007 #1 Best New Affordable Public Golf Course in America.

Located near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains just east of Charlottesville, Spring Creek Golf Club is the primary amenity within the gated community. The course has been placed among rolling hillsides, mature hardwood tress and a sliver of tall pines. Stark white bunkers, pristinely manicured bent grass tees, fairways and greens await you throughout the course. The Ed Carton design offers a PGA Tour challenge with five sets of tees from 7,350 yards or a splendidly smaller version at 4,680 yards.

After entering through the magnificently manicured security gate, just follow the signs on your short drive to the golf course. When you arrive, you will be greeted by one of our professionally trained, courteous staff who work to make your experience unforgettable. The fully stocked pro shop has everything you might need to enhance your play, and our PGA professionals also can assist you with golf instruction. We pride ourselves in our ability to coach everyone from women, juniors, and seniors to the accomplished collegiate or aspiring professional player.

Central Virginia is rich in our country’s history; Spring Creek has done well to capture much of this tradition. Spectacular four board fencing winds throughout the community, and the golf course offers incredible stacked stone accents and rustic wooden bridges throughout your course of play. Each hole has a name describing a feature that is part of its playability. To keep with our Colonial heritage, the names are in Middle English dialect. Once you have checked in, warmed up at our state-of-the-art practice facility and given the rules of the day by our course starter, you will head to the first tee which is where we begin our audio tour.

Hole 1

Hole 1

Hole 1, Spring Creek: You will cross the meandering stream at the namesake of our community and golf course, Spring Creek, and begin with a medium length dogleg left. Players can try to carry the bunker in order to shorten the hole, but a solid straight away tee shot leaves you with a 150 yard approach to this generous two tiered green.

Hole 2

Hole 2

Hole 2, Ambicioun: Your ambition on this straightaway 3 shot par 5 is a birdie, but a wise play that avoids the bunker off the tee, both bunkers on the second shot and the large greenside bunker lends itself to a great score on this hole – par.

Hole 3

Hole 3

Hole 3, Bulwerk: A robust par 4 which plays into the prevailing wind. The expansive fairway encourages a big swing leading to a second shot approach that must negotiate a stonewalled creek – the bulwark. The amphitheater backdrop and generous collection area on the right will aid you in your quest for your par.

Hole 4

Hole 4

Hole 4, Narwe: A large bunker narrows the fairway and a lay-up off the tee just short of the bunker leaves you with a 150 yard second shot. Challenge the narrow fairway and if successful, you will have a very short shot to this undulating large green.

Hole 5

Hole 5

Hole 5, Potecten: Crossing the wooden bridge and approaching the stacked stone framed tee complex, the par 3 fifth peaks your excitement. A spectacular backdrop brings your focus to a bunker protected green. If your downhill shot finds the putting surface you have done well.

Hole 6

Hole 6

Hole 6, Chalenge: Visually spectacular, this uphill par 4 challenges all comers. Avoid the large right-side bunker and your uphill second shot that plays a bit farther than your yardage must find the correct level of this two-tiered undulating green.

Hole 7

Hole 7

Hole 7, Betwene: Two large bunkers line this fairway, and you must place your tee shot between them. A large deep bunker guards the front right side of this two-tiered long narrow green.

Hole 8

Hole 8

Hole 8, Benigne: This short benign downhill par 3 is the opportunity to capture a much needed par or birdie. An accurate short iron tee shot to the correct pin location will yield a good score.

Hole 9

Hole 9

Hole 9, Connen: At 615 yards from the tips, or much less from the other four sets of tees, this cunning par 5 offers you a chance for a good score. The bunkers you see from the tee (aim at the left one) are great targets and are unreachable. A second shot down the left side will receive assistance as the terrain pitches downhill and to the right toward the green.

Hole 10

Hole 10

Hole 10, Rigge: The ridge that frames this dogleg right is enhanced by bunkering long and left, as well as up the right side. Only the long hitter can play over the right bunker leaving an uphill second shot to a very undulating green.

Hole 11

Hole 11

Hole 11, Magnificence: When you arrive at the tee complex, you’ll notice a magnificent par 4 with the stacked stone lined creek, spectacular pine forest and invitingly large fairway. A tee shot just short of the fairway bunkers will be inside the 150 yard market. Swing away and just enjoy this uphill beauty.

Hole 12

Hole 12

Hole 12, Precis: A precise tee shot that avoids the left-side fairway bunker will open up opportunities for low scores. The downhill second shot plays shorter, and if you avoid the long right-side bunkers you will have a short pitch into the green. Any play into this green that is right, long or left will lead to certain bogey.

Hole 13

Hole 13

Hole 13, Prudent: Another short downhill par 3 opens up scoring possibilities with a prudent club selection. A prevailing tail wind and the downhill slope will assist your shot, so calculate that into your equation. A larger-than-meets-the-eye green awaits you.

Hole 14

Hole 14

Hole 14, Streme: The Spring Creek stream and adjoining wetlands guard the entire left side of this par 4. Visually spectacular, this downhill, downwind tee shot requires much accuracy. The sloping right hillside assists the tee shot, as well as the approach as balls will bund back into play.

Hole 15

Hole 15

Hole 15, Enticen: This short par 4 might be enticing, but don’t be fooled. A smart play off the tee to avoid the fairway bunker just 80 yards from the green leaves you a short iron approach to an undulating green. Any shot over this green becomes a lost ball down a steep embankment.

Hole 16

Hole 16

Hole 16, Forteress: Another one of the many WOW moments as you reach the tee complex via a winding wooden bridge over natural wetlands. This middle distance par 4, slight dogleg left, is guarded by a large deep left greenside bunker and a veritable fortress of stacked stone gardens to the right. The right-side slopes will assist both tee shot and approach.

Hole 17

Hole 17

Hole 17, Grandis: A grand hole, this par 3 possesses a difficult green complex. A narrow front portion opens to a two-tiered second half with a lot of undulation. A cavernous bunker left and a deep collection area right are both tough escapes.

Hole 18

Hole 18

Hole 18, Formidablis: A formidable finish that has been compared to the finishing hole at Pebble Beach, this par 5 is difficult off the tee, but offers an expansive lay-up area. Favor the right side of the tee as it will bound back to the center of the fairway. The large multi-level green requires you to play to the pin location or risk certain 3 putt.
